About Beach Girl, Traveler & Founder of Sirčne
Nell Love is a Beach Girl. She would choose a sandy Christmas over a white one, hands down. Her idea of heaven is a big beach blanket, a picnic lunch, a good book and 12 hours spent dipping in and out of the waves. Exploring a new beach, whether it’s in Montauk, NY, Columbia, Tobago or St. Martin, is one of her greatest pleasures. It was Nell’s grandmother that sparked her love of swimwear, sending her packages stuffed with new suits before every visit they paid to her beach house. Nell keenly remembers the joy of picking out her first bikini at 3 years of age, (which featured a ladybug motif), and recalls with affection the “My Little Pony” one-piece she wore at 5 years of age. Interested in fashion from a young age, Nell knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career in that direction. After earning a degree in Fashion Merchandising from Kent State University, Nell moved to New York City armed with her first job at one of the industry’s ecommerce pioneers, Girlshop. At Girlshop she had a multi-faceted role, touching on many aspects of the business including buying, visual merchandising, art direction and production. Presented with an opportunity to build a retailer’s ecommerce initiative from inception, Nell moved to multi-brand retailer Olive & Bettes, where she oversaw the launch of their online store. Craving a professional experience in less “dot-com” entrepreneurial environment, Nell took a position at digital marketing and advertising firm Digitas where she managed their campaigns for client American Express. While her corporate experience served her well, Nell’s affinity for the fashion industry hadn’t abated so when the visionary Steven Alan came calling she jumped at the chance to oversee their ecommerce site. While at Steven Alan, the inveterate beachgoer had identified a gap in the marketplace: a well-curated multi-brand swim and resortwear web site that adhered to a high standard of style and design. With Alan’s blessing, Nell began creating what would eventually become Sirčne, an online specialty boutique dedicated to swimwear that the discriminating consumer can trust in terms of aesthetic judgment and quality. Given her love of the beach and the number of hours she has logged wearing all manner of swimwear, it is only natural that she returned to her roots to launch SirčneCollection.com.
